After 10 years as a buyer’s agent, Mick McLeod has seen first hand how the real estate market cycles shift—and how experience and strong relationships make all the difference. “There was a time when listings were easy to get, but finding buyers was the challenge,” Mick recalls. “We’d be in the office until late, making call after call, trying to match the right person to the right property.” Fast forward to today, and the dynamic has flipped. Listings are harder to secure, but there are plenty of buyers actively looking. Open homes now attract large crowds, and properties often receive multiple offers in a matter of days.
But while the market has changed, Mick believes the key to long-term success is the same: building strong relationships. Many of today’s sellers were once buyers he worked with years ago. “I’m now selling homes for people who bought three, four, five years ago. They’ve made significant gains, and they’re coming back to us because they trust the process,” Mick explains.
He also credits the strength of his team. With dedicated agents focusing on different aspects of the sales process, they can provide a better experience for both buyers and sellers. “Having a well-structured team means we’re always working together to get the best results,” Mick says.
Real estate will always move in cycles, but for Mick, the fundamentals remain the same.“ Markets will change, but people will always value honesty, good service, and experience. That’s what keeps them coming back. ”
